The British Council Pakistan is recruiting for Senior Academic Manager  based in  Lahore.

This is a leadership role in the EES team with management and academic responsibilities that relate to the effective delivery, evaluation and development of EES activity. The overall purpose of the role is to contribute to positive impact in education and English language and the achievement of EES business targets, in line with our 2020 Roadmap.

The British Council creates international opportunities for the people of the UK and other countries and builds trust between them worldwide.

EES (English for Education Systems) delivers large scale transformational projects that seek to improve the quality of (English language) teaching, learning and assessment. Our work centres mostly on providing Continuing Professional Development opportunities for teachers, teacher educators and school leaders through our Teaching for Success approach.   Globally EES delivers contracts totalling around 45m GBP.   In Pakistan, The British Council aims to be the leading authority in English language policy, learning, teaching and assessment; and to strengthen its position through the delivery of the PEELI (Punjab Education and English Language Initiative) and the EES KPK projects and the delivery of future contract opportunities.   Currently the EES project team (7 members of staff) in Pakistan is delivering two large scale co-funded contracts with a combined value of 6.6m GBP:

PEELI (implementation began Summer 2017) is a large-scale educational programme assisting the Government of Punjab to improve the quality of teaching of 250,000 grades 1-5 public sector Maths, Science, Computer Science and English teachers. 4m GBP over 3 years ending in December 2019.

The EES KPK project is a large-scale educational programme assisting the Government of KPK to improve the quality of teaching of 87,000 grades 3-5 public sector Maths, Science and English teachers. 2.6m GBP over1 year ending in July 2018.

Both projects are cascade models, informed by the Teaching for Success approach, focussing on Continuing Professional Development for teachers, teacher educators and school leaders, with an increasing focus on school-based CPD and delivering professional development opportunities digitally.
The post will play a central role within the EES business development and delivery team in Pakistan.
