ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT/TEAM


China is one of British Council’s largest exams operations, delivering extensive international exams to individuals, institutions, schools and corporate clients in mainland China. By providing access to highly valued UK qualifications, with the reassurance of integrity, we build on the UK’s reputation for world-class educational standards. Core tests we administer include IELTS, Aptis, and a wide range of academic and professional qualifications (Distribution Exams stream). The Distribution Exams stream in China encompasses school exams, professional exams, and university exams and is a critical part of our exams business.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING AND WHY

You will act as a critical enabler of China business improvement projects and Global digital changes. You will act as critical contact point with Global Information Service teams.

You must be an experienced people manager and will be responsible for the overall management of 4 IT departments with total approx. 40 people.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

To qualify for this role, you will need:

1. Language ability: you must be a great communicator in both English and Chinese so you could work effectively with your key stakeholders globally(English C1; Aptis, IELTS 6 or equivalent; Chinese C1, HSK 5 or equivalent);

2. You mush possess bachelor’s degree or equivalent;

3. You possess practitioner level of ITIL or above; and DevOps Masters or equivalent;

5. You must have at least 7 years proven experience managing the IT service teams which should cover the whole lifecycle of the system development;

6. You have proven experience in both product management and information security management; as well as quality assurance;

7. You are an expert in supplier and vendor management; budget planning and monitoring.

IT management experience in exams/education industry is highly preferred.
