Pay Band: Teacher Scale / Location: Caracas / Contract: Fixed term (6 months) / Post holder must be legally-entitled to work in Venezuela.
 What will be the Purpose of our next In-Company Teacher of English: 
  • To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English.
  • To support the wider aims of British Council and its cultural relations mission.
About what we do in Venezuela: 
- The teaching centre currently employs approximately 20 teachers of English on both full time and hourly paid contracts and teaches English to 1,200 adults and 600 young learners in each of the 5 terms every year. 
- There are several projects in progress to develop the business, in particular, offsite corporate courses.  
- We are looking for dedicated teachers with experience of teaching corporate classes who would be interested in teachers 12-15 hours per week. 
- Candidates would also be requested to take part in a mentoring programme which would include weekly planning meetings with a mentor and regular observations. 

The Accountabilities, Responsibilities and Main duties of this role will be (Please refer to the Role Description attached for further details):  

Support British Council’s global English strategy by: 
  • Delivering teaching to the highest standards of ELT
  • Enhancing British Council’s reputation as a world authority in ELT
  • Continuing professional development and sharing of best practices
  • Ensuring teaching meets learner needs and expectations
  • Ensuring teaching meets Teaching Quality standards and organisational expectations
  • Maintaining good relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Supporting the teaching centre’s activities and British Council plans 
Key relationships: 

Internal: Other Teaching Centre staff (teachers, coordinators, senior teachers, teaching centre manager), Finance and resources team, Customer services team, Operations (Grant-funded Projects) team, Examinations team, Other wider BC teams, Wider EFL community. 

External: Learners, Parents, Partner schools, Corporate Clients.
