ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT/TEAM

The Newton Agham Programme is an integral component of the Newton Fund, which forms part of the UK’s official development assistance programme. The British Council is working alongside other key UK organisations and in partnership with the Government of the Philippines to deliver the Newton Agham Programme in the Philippines to benefit Filipino researchers, such as Researcher Links and Institutional Links, amongst others.

 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING AND WHY

The Programme Manager will lead the planning, stakeholder management, implementation and monitoring of the Newton Fund in the Philippines (Newton Agham Programme). With support from the Head of Education, you will work with partner funders, and negotiate details of operational alliance agreements within the framework set out with the British Council Global Newton Team, the in-country Strategic Manager for Newton Programme of the British Embassy Manila (FCO), and the appropriate regional clusters within British Council East Asia.

You will be part of a significant science and innovation programme towards building researcher and institutional capacity for high-quality and international research projects. This is the opportunity to manage a complex, overarching programme with regional and global colleagues.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

To be considered, you need to possess a Bachelor’s degree in Science with extensive knowledge of the science sector in Philippines. You will have proven experience of programme management, including financial management and knowledge of the education system in Philippines and UK.
