Details
This is an opportunity for ambitious teachers to secure a contract at the British Council Georgia located in beautiful Tbilisi. The British Council is the largest and most prestigious EFL school in Georgia with a significant focus on teacher development.

Prospective applicants must have an initial qualification of CELTA, Trinity TESOL (or other recognised EFL qualification with significant teaching practice) plus one year post certificate teaching experience. The British Council recruits teachers of all nationalities but your English must be at C2 level (8/9 at IELTS).

Successful applicants will teach on Saturday and Sunday and three working days. Outside of term time there is the opportunity to work fewer weekends. They will teach three quarters of a full teaching schedule minimum, i.e. 18 hours a week, with plenty of opportunities for overtime. (At the British Council a teaching hour is 60 minutes)

During non-teaching periods teachers will be allocated placement testing or admin work up to 28 hours a week.

Current pay rates:
For teachers who have an initial teaching qualification the monthly salary is 1913.30 GEL. For those with DELTA it is 2156.04 GEL. All figures are before tax.

The rate for overtime for this position is 29 GEL per hour (gross) for CELTA teachers. Teachers with the DELTA are paid 32 GEL per hour.

All contract teachers receive a contribution to local health insurance and 35 days’ paid leave per annum.

Essential Requirements:

First Degree
Cambridge CELTA or Trinity cert TESOL 
Full mastery of English equivalent to C2 / IELTS Band 8/9
1-year post-certificate i.e. CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL experience
Experience in teaching relevant age groups: Adults General English Young Learners aged 5-17

Process

1. The deadline for completed applications is Saturday, 14th December.
2. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the end of December.
3. Post-interview, candidates will be invited to conduct a trial lesson or to prepare a full lesson plan.
4. Successful candidates will begin working in early January, 2020.
5. Teaching will start in mid-January 2020.
