Details
The British Council UAE is recruiting a full-time Young Learner Co-ordinator to teach in our Sharjah centre starting in late August 2016. The number of young learners is quite small (around 150 registered in our most recent term) but this has been growing at a rate of around 15% per year.    

The YL co-ordinator has a key role in ensuring there is good support and training for teachers, a high standard of customer care for YLs and their parents and good co-ordination with the other centres in the UAE. The YL Co-ordinator will teach up to 18 hours per week on YL or Adult Courses.   An attractive package is offered - salaries are good and accommodation is provided allowing teachers a good lifestyle.


Essential Requirements:  

  •  Cambridge CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL 
  •  High proficiency in English i.e. full mastery of English across all 4 skills equivalent to user (CEFR C2) IELTS Band 8/9 in each of 4 sections of the academic module
  • Undergraduate/university degree Recognised YL teaching qualification e.g. PGCE/B.Ed in Primary or relevant subject, British Council / Trinity TYLEC, CELTYL or YL extension to CELTA 
  •  4 years post-certificate i.e. CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL experience 
  • Experience in teaching relevant age groups specific to the centre 
  •  Adults General English 18+ (800+ hours) 
  •   And two or more of the following 
  •   Young learners aged 6 to 10 (600+ hours) 
  •   Young learners aged 11 to 13 (600+ hours) 
  •   Young learners aged 14 to 17 (600+ hours) 
 Desirable Requirements:           
  • Experience as YL extension to CELTA or British Council / Trinity TYLEC tutor Cambridge 
  • DELTA/Trinity DipTESOL
