Pay band: Senior Management | Contract Duration: Two years fixed term contract | Region: South Asia | Location: Delhi, India
The British Council is recruiting for a Regional HR Director to develop and deliver the People strategy for South Asia to enable and support the achievement of the region’s business strategies and the corporate plan. 

The Regional HR Director, South Asia leads a team of 35 HR professionals comprising: 
- Country Heads of HR and their teams in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal 
- Head of Talent & Development 
- Head of Employee Relations & Reward 
- Head of Resourcing 

Amongst the HR challenges faced by the region are political and economic instability in some countries, responding quickly and flexibly to changing requirements, recruiting and retaining staff with key skills, capability and capacity of managers, and varying levels of HR support at a local level. The role will require pro-active engagement and alignment with Regional Business Leads and support functions, HR functional leaders in the Centre of Expertise, HR Leadership Team and SBU HR leads.

We are therefore looking for a talented individual who has experience of:
  • Senior HR experience in a commercial, matrix and international environment 
  • Management of international mobility 
  • Building effective relationships with senior business leadership teams 
  • Managing, motivating and coaching a senior team of HR professionals 
  • Development and implementation of HR strategies 
  • Managing across cross-cultural boundaries
  • Managing a range of complex internal and external stakeholders 
  • Talent management in an international environment 
  • Employee relations
