British Council Peru is a small operation with a current team of five people, which will expand in line with emerging opportunities. This post, reporting to Director Peru, will work closely with the regional English and Exams leads, regional digital leads, regional sales and marketing team, the test centre network and other partners to develop relationships with key stakeholders in private schools and corporations and identify opportunities for business development in English and Exams. This will include demonstrating excellence in English teaching policy and pedagogy, in order to deliver impact for the UK, by working with Peruvian government and schools, to create and implement effective teacher training and language teaching programmes. The outcomes are to improve levels of English of both students and teachers in Peruvian private schools and maximise candidature through an emphasis on sales techniques, increasing testing capacity and on marketing communications to potential candidates and institutions all under the remit of a unified regional commercial strategy.

Purpose of Job

  • To deliver benefit to the UK by identifying and developing new market opportunities within the Private Education, Corporate and B2C sectors for UK and British Council exams and other education services. This might include English language policy, curriculum development, teacher training, continuous professional development and English language improvement.
  • To deliver these services across private schools, universities and corporations, in order to support Peru’s education system and provide opportunities for Peruvians to succeed in both national and international contexts.
  • To build access to a cohort of consultants and specialists with regional and Peruvian expertise and manage consultants as required to deliver programmes in the private education and corporate sectors.
  • To design and implement the English and Exams Sales and Marketing Strategy for the Private Education, Corporate and B2C sector in Peru.
  • To deliver the necessary administrative and support services to school exam centres across Peru and to build access to consultants who can provide support and training in exams administration and curriculum issues related to UK and British Council exams.
  • To identify and develop opportunities for Business to Customer teaching initiatives for the direct teaching of English in new niches.
