The Opportunity

In November 2016 the British Council launched a 3-year CRM programme to: deliver a professional set of tools to help and support British Council staff in their daily work in managing, recording and tracking relationships and interactions with customers; further professionalise and standardise how we work with customers; improve how we manage customer data; and to enable the development of business insights from this data to achieve increased customer satisfaction and loyalty, increased sales, and reduced operational costs.

The current CRM programme ends in October 2019, and CRM will then move into ‘continuous development’ through the establishment of a permanent CRM team, whose work will be supplemented by additional projects – as and when required by lines of business. Taken together this will be a new CRM ‘programme of work’.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the operational planning, management and delivery of significant strands of this programme of work.

  • Ensure the timely and accurate collation of management information, evaluation and major project reporting, to enable more effective and robust operational planning and decision-making.

The Organisation

The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. We create friendly knowledge and understanding between the people of the UK and other countries.  We do this by making a positive contribution to the UK and the countries we work with – changing lives by creating opportunities, building connections and engendering trust.

We work with over 100 countries across the world in the fields of arts and culture, English language, education and civil society. Each year we reach over 20 million people face-to-face and more than 500 million people online, via broadcasts and publications. Founded in 1934, we are a UK charity governed by Royal Charter and a UK public body.

English and Examinations

Through our English and Exams work we aim to achieve more widespread and better quality teaching and learning of English worldwide and offer access to professional qualifications.  Working with policymakers, government ministers, teachers and learners across the world we help millions of people to access English by supporting the teaching and learning of English in public education systems, and through self-access materials and courses. We teach learners and teachers of English face-to-face in dedicated teaching centres and online through a range of courses. Every year three million people take international exams with help from the British Council, gaining qualifications that can open doors at leading academic institutions and improve employment prospects.

These roles sit within the English and Exams business unit; however, the responsibilities of the CRM team sit across the whole of the British Council.
