  • A first degree or equivalent
  • A Cambridge CELTA/Trinity certificate TESOL.
  • At least two years of experience teaching English after gaining the CELTA or equivalent.  This should be a mix of teaching adults and young learners.

  • A clear willingness to engage in further professional development

Please bear the following points in mind before applying:

  • This is an hourly-paid position, not a full-time position.  There is no guaranteed minimum number of teaching hours; these depend on business needs from term to term.  By itself, an hourly-paid teaching position at the British Council is not enough to provide a main source of income; those looking for a main job should look for our adverts for full-time teaching positions which are advertised here once or twice a year.
  • The British Council is not able to assist overseas applicants in getting rights to live or work in Morocco for an hourly-paid position. Typically, successful applicants will already be based in or near Casablanca, either because they are Moroccan nationals or because they have a full-time post with another organisation and are looking for additional teaching hours with the British Council.
  • The British Council Morocco does not accept any teaching certificates other than the Cambridge CELTA and a small number of comparable certificates such as the Trinity CTESOL.  Most other teaching qualifications, including national teaching qualifications to be a teacher in a government school, are not accepted.
