THE OPPORTUNITY;

 Working with the head of Content and Digital Marketing, Exams and English, you will be responsible for the creation, delivery, on-going management and publication of new global content and updates (text, video, graphics/images, etc.) on British Council digital channels across all our English product lines

This is a pivotal role in the English & Exams Strategic Business Unit (SBU), driving a better understanding of the value of digital content and marketing in increasing brand awareness, deepening engagement with customers, and identifying opportunities to improve customer experience and marketing ROI.

 This involves understanding global as well as regional business priorities and marketing strategies and working with a range of stakeholders to produce and publish relevant and engaging customer centric content

Main Duties:

  •  Support the Head of Content and Digital Marketing to define the content vision and joined up digital content strategy for the English product portfolio, ensuring its alignment with the British Council brand values and social purpose
  • Plan, develop, execute and publish new web content and updates with input from key internal teams, ensuring its timely delivery and distribution in all the countries in the English network
  • Be responsible for distilling the editorial requirements of the British Council into a global solution, flexible enough to meet local needs. The content created will be 80% standardised and 20% localised. You will need to work with stakeholders to agree the standardised content 
  • Ensure that the content is functioning correctly and is kept up-to date
  • Act as the day-to-day contact between the global marketing teams, in-country marketing teams, business development teams, customer service teams and the Core Digital team.
  • Work with the UX and design/web development teams in Core Digital to ensure that customers, teachers and partners can find information and transact easily
  • Serve as a functional content expert across the Exams network, providing best-in-class guidance to in-country marketing and digital teams/content producers to help them maximise their digital conversion funnel
  • Based on analytics and insights, ensure content is suitable for usage across all digital channels
  • Be responsible for feeding editorial requirements into the Content Management System (CMS) feature development. Take lead on editorial development and work closely with British Council content providers for English, to identify future web and mobile developments

  • Implement best practice of sharing global and local content across digital platforms, such the British Council’s CMS, Facebook, Twitter, etc.  
  • Identify how to best funnel learnings about customer behaviour back into the organisation across marketing, sales, customer service, product development and operational delivery 
  • Help to implement campaigns and content changes globally and associated translations in 32 languages
  • Provide structured insights into new and existing customer experiences on our website and Apps.
  • To use data from user research, Google Analytics, etc. to evidence decisions about the type of content needed on the website 
  • Develop a set of digital KPIs 
  • Manage external suppliers (translation agencies, etc)
  • Support the Head of Content and Digital Marketing with digital marketing planning and budgeting
  • Keep abreast of digital trend patterns emerging across markets
:ABOUT YOU;

  •  Experience of working as part, or alongside a digital team
  • Proven Ability to produce and edict clear, succinct, persuasive and engaging written and visual content for digital channels
  • Excellent written/copywriting for digital channels
  • Deep understanding of SEO and content development strategy
  • Knowledge of a variety of web analytics tools including Google Analytics
  • Knowledge and understanding of content management systems
  • Demonstrate and in-depth understanding of products and technologies in the digital space
  • Experience of creating content to drive conversion and/or using conversion metrics to generate leads.
