Our global HR team has undergone a significant restructure to position it more effectively to support the rapidly changing needs of the British Council.  Significant progress has been made and a key area of focus remains building a greater degree of consistent, simple, standard and customer focused HR operations. 

 

This will be achieved in part through automating processes and implementing a new global HRIS system (Success Factors) and by a phased move of HR administration towards a shared services model. 

 

This work will be led by the Global HR Shared Services Director.

 

The opportunity:

As our Global HR Shared Services Director, you’ll report into our Global HR Director and have a real opportunity to drive and shape the HR Shared Services agenda for the British Council across the world. 

 

As such, you’ll develop, lead and manage an emerging global HR Shared Services function, including delivery of Business As Usual (BAU) HR operations to set standards, implementation of a new HRIS and HR Shared Services function. 

 

You will also sponsor our Fit For Purpose HR programme, which is leading on a number of changes to HR delivery.  These include:

 

·         simplified and standardised HR policies and contracts,

·         pre-employment screening roll out

·         global payroll outsourcing

·         enhanced mobility and advisory services

·         integration of resourcing into the HR Shared Services function

 

To achieve this, you’ll need to work closely with a range of senior level stakeholders.  These will include our Board of Trustees, the Executive and Management Board, Senior Business Leads, and other Heads of HR and HR Centres of Expertise.

 

All of this means you’ll be pivotal in driving and shaping our HR Services and Operations agenda and strategy globally.

 

What we require of the successful candidate:

The key experience that we are looking for can be summarised in the following points:

 

·         Leading a global shared service and delivering via SLAs

·         Delivering HR operations across a range of geographical locations in a complex matrix environment

·         Managing projects and resource forecasting

·         Managing, motivating and coaching a senior team of HR professionals

·         Commercial negotiation and productive relationship building with external suppliers

·         Experience of managing a range of internal and external stakeholders
